No. The training department should not bear the weight of pushing a trainee through because they have poor IFR skills. When you get up here, things will happen so fast in the sim, you will not have the time to worry about your IFR skills, you're there to learn to fly the airplane, not build your IFR skills up. I'm trying to help you by giving you a heads up. If you think my advice isn't worth listening to, then do as you do and hope you make it.

A lot of us, including myself havent flown in a while, but I (and others) did what it took to make sure I was prepared prior to coming here. After studying, I would shot an approach on my laptop every few nights. The guys up here already have higher times, and they can walk away from it for a while and it will not be that big of a deal. But for someone under 500hrs or so, it's hard to come back to it after being away. They did have extra sessions, but not more than 1. Hope you're studying for the oral, that's a huge ordeal in itself.
I am, and I apologize, I was the one being the jerk. Hope it's going well for you.
