If your second flight doesn't look good...Call scheduling and let em know. If they really need you and it looks ugly you may find yourself positive spaced (no guarantee, but you can't be faulted for trying everything possible to get to work). If you show you tried everything possible to get to work and have a carpet dance, the contract and your actions will stand for themselves.
