Initial training on 727 FE position (yes - we still had people starting out on the panel) was 8 or 9 weeks long. No lodging for initial training has not changed - in fact, that was the predominant policy back then for all the majors. Even worse I remember that CAL didn't even give you access to Health Insurance until 6 months AFTER you were hired.
