I think for low time guys new to 121 it's a requirement. So yes first you do a checkride in the sim then a small check flight in the plane.
Yeah, when we were told that in training, I found it crazy that the first time you fly the real airplane, you have a check airman sitting right next to you. But apparently you have some time in the the air to get a feel for it, then he/she starts the check ride once you feel ready. Anyways, if you can fly the sim, I'm sure you can fly the plane with no problems... Any pointers?
