Raw Score Bucket
Week 1 (06FEB12) Bucket 1, Pilot 1 has 0 raw and Pilot 2 has 0 raw. Both available for 4 days. 4 day trip pops up pilot 2 flies the 4 day, has 44 point raw score. Pilot 1 is not used on Tuesday and on his last two days of availability the 2 and 1 day trips are picked up by WS.
Week 2 (13FEB12) Bucket 1, Pilot 1 has 0 raw and Pilot 2 has 44 raw. Both available for 4 days. Neither is used on Monday. Come Tuesday a 3-day pops up, Pilot 1 has 0 raw and pilot 2 has 44 raw. Pilot 2 gets the 3-day.
Week 3 (20FEB12) Bucket 1, Pilot 1 has 0 raw and Pilot 2 has a 77 raw. A 4-day pops up and Pilot 2 is first for it.
Week 4 (20FEB12) Bucket 1, Pilot 1 has 0 raw. Pilot 2 is now in bucket 2 with a raw of 121.
Now that's in a 2 man reserve group. Consider this, each monday the pilots on the RUO with 4-5 days of availability (weekends off) will range between 1% and 50% on the list. So that could be in a MD88 category mean the most junior pilot is #35 of 70 give or take. Or as the cool kids say YMMV. Remember, in overstaffed and even non-overstaffed categories you get to 2 days or less and a lot of those trips are picked up on WS. Basically unless there is IROPS or a 2 day with DHs on it you'll only fly a 2 or 1 day trip off SC.
It'd take a lot of this most junior pilot first in the bucket to get to the point the top 10 or so pilots fly. As of right now many of those don't fly to the 3rd week on a raw only system. I know, i sit 30%, I'm in that mix. I watch it all of the time.
LOA 29 would've been a grand slam had the buckets been left out. There are some great improvements in there.
Seniority should matter, and for the pilots from 20%-50% their seniority is gone. Here's the question. If under the current system senior pilots weren't flying until week 3 anyways barring SC, then you basically had a system that said pilots 1-35 has a good QOL so why champion a system where now only pilots 1-10 will? YMMV again there.
It's the principle of this that I don't care for, anymore than pilots would care if the top 5% of regular line holders were given the month off for being in the top 5% and paid ALV while their flying was done by other REG pilots for 0 additional pay.
