The CAL system allowed reserves to pickup trips in that window the day prior, but the nicer part of their system was that lineholders could take a trip from a reserve guy even after it was assigned. I can't remember all the specifics, but it was nice and I did all the time. If it was within 12 hours they would call the reserve guy and if he didn't want to do the trip, they pulled it from them and it was all yours. I think outside of 12 hours it was yours regardless of what the resreve guy wanted.

There are lots of ways we can continue to improve the reserve system here that will benefit lineholders as well. I'm actually very impressed with the improvements so far, although they may not be perfect. The bucket system, credit for SC, and the entire reserve availability list are great things to get outside of section 6. Can't wait for the ability to higher your RAW score. I also think we could still allow drops and swaps up to 12 hours prior to report if reserve coverage is good. That would be nice.
