The judge cannot "impose" a new contract. There are three options: 1) Status quo contract; 2) Agree to a new jointly agreed upon contract; 3) Elimination of the current CBA.
That being said the pilots will not come out unscathed, but they can control what and how much they give up.
Just my opinion, but code share and scope are the two most important items to protect. I think code share can be protect at the cost of scope. Scope can be protected at the cost of a 'B' scale. AA meet Compass Airlines, Compass Airlines meet AA. I'll just leave you two to get better acquainted.
