It's my understanding that you must specify via PCS that you will fly on X-days--a YS request by itself will not award you a trip on X-days.
If you volunteer to fly on X-days, it's out of your hide. You get credit for the whole trip towards your guarantee and RAW score--but nothing above the guarantee and no payback X-days (those come with green slips). Not much there for you...
