We are in a seniority driven profession. That is how it's been since this industry started. The new system brings back some seniority to reserve. This is a good thing. This was fixed outside of section 6 negotiations. I think the new bucket system is a good idea and a good improvement that was relatively easy to implement.
There are more things that need fixing on reserve. You are right, higher reserve guarantee and definitely the same credit per trip lineholder vs reserve. But stop complaining about being able to exercise a little seniority on reserve!!!
That's exactly my point GS. I know reserve sucks, especially for 4 or 5 years. This quest for equality by junior folks is getting old though. Should we do away with the years of service pay? How about every FO regardless of aircraft or years of service gets paid the same? That's equal. Maybe everyone gets 2 weekends off a month? That's fair. Im sure scheduling could come up with a system where senior and junior pilots fly approximately the same number of days per month. That's fair.
The seniority based system has nothing to do with what's fair. Come summer time, all reserves will be abused equally.
