No it isn't. It's about keeping damage in-house for a respective airline. The whole reason we're IN this disaster in the first place is because we rushed into the whole merger process. Can you believe we had one list and a vacancy award jumping across certificates before any fenced operations even happened? Other mergers have been more successful, because they have slowed down and taken their time getting the fenced operation before jumping into the SLI hoops. ASA/XJT is a prime example. It's not appaling to want out of seniority order furloughs. The concept of seniority no longer exists with Bloch's ruling on the list. The majority of 9E pilots already took the brunt force of Mesaba's cuts, now you want the impending Colgan cuts to be spread out as well? No thanks.
To be sure I understand your point...You are against a 7% pay cut because the problems that the company is in isn't your fault, and that if they can't afford us, well then its time to shut the place down.
Now you advocate out of seniority furloughs because "all those training events would be a financial disaster for the company". So which is it Shy, its not ok to take a pay cut, but its ok to furlough 600 guys? You're a blatant, selfish, hypocrite Shy.
I don't want to give up one penny of my pay. However, I'm for giving the company all lee-way in vacancy awards and bypass pay, and all the other crap these guys are entitled to. I took at the bypass list and just shook my head. God forbid a current Q400 Captain get RJ Captain rates because someone junior to him got a RJ class first! Waste of money!
In your honest opinion, would you feel the same way if Delta parked all of 9E 200 flying? Would you advocate out of seniority furloughs then?
That -200 contract is making money now, so that's not an issue. But if it was not, and all the other guys on the 900s, Saabs, and Qs were making money, then yes I'd be for out of seniority furloughs.
