The bucket system is nothing more than a tie breaker. There are still a bunch of random variables that determine who gets assigned trips. Some of the most senior pilots have the highest raw scores while some of the most junior pilots have the lowest raw scores. The raw bucket only breaks a tie so if you are senior bidding reserve with the hopes of not flying good luck, you will need it.
