Swimmers don't despair. Even though this award only shows 20 new hire slots, it also shows that CVG will be staffed to 20 767 captains and 16 767 fo's. I'm pretty sure that the 5 767's slated for CVG will require more pilots in both seats than that. These numbers are very fluid and are based upon what I assume is short term projected training center capabilities. I'm thinking that there will be many more 767 fo's needed. I'm also thinking that if DaMoose is correct that we will need 6 capts and 6 fo's for each DHL 767, that means 60 CVG 767 pilots. This bid only accounts for 36 of those pilots and that 36 includes the 10 767 new hires listed in the award so that means at least 34 new hires to fill those seats.
Of course the captains will not be hired off the street, but they will come from the right seat of the 744 and those seats will need to be filled by new hires. And this speculation is just for the 767 in CVG. There will be other vacancies appearing when the -8's start arriving.
Bottom line is that Atlas appears to continue to need many more pilots and will, with some delays due to classic pilot transitions, be hiring for the foreseeable future.
Maybe, just maybe, I got in the right line this time ...
