This. The whole codeshare thing is out of control, but more than that, is there REAL DEMAND for passenger travel at the levels the airlines claim? It seems like they are saying there's a HUGE DEMAND for $5000 new cars, and of course, if cars cost only $5000, I'd be getting one every year, but that's just not realistic demand. With electronic media getting better and better, I'd assume in some segments it will be a steady decline, maybe offset by the growing population, but they have to be able to afford it, there's a lot more to it than "there'll be a lot of people that want to fly". There are a lot of people that want cheap everything...doesn't mean that's a market. Regional airline's can't be something you "don't take seriously, because it's only a stepping stone", it doesn't work like that anymore, but even if it did, that kind of attitude kills safety IMO.
