The current (few) CRJ pilots are going to stay on the CRJ until it is sent to 9E in June. Then they will probably have differences training into the CR9. There won't be any need for dual rating since we will only have the CR9 to worry about.

The right seat of the CR9 will probably mostly go to returning furloughs and new hires, since anyone lateralling from the Saab will be seat locked for 24 months. Some will, but the majority will not I suspect. With this vacancy, they are building the Saab numbers to cover training etc. 10 jet slots, 30 Saab slots are open.
wow that sucks man. so a captain on the avro gets booted down to the saab a year ago, and now he is seat locked for another 2?! and the dual rating i was refering to is will everyone have to be checked out in the saab and the cr9? or will there be different bids for each plane. I hope it is based on seniority, i would be ****ed if i was a captain on the avro a couple years ago making 70 an hour, got dispalced to the saab making 45, and then be locked there for 2 years.
