Default Age 60 Line Checks No More!

Thankfully, those pesky extra line checks for our "senior" pilots will soon be a thing of the past. If you think about it, it makes sense. If past performance is any indicator of future performance, these pilots have been passing check rides for more than 30 years. Might I suggest the same for those semi-annual physical exams.

I say let's take it another step in the right direction, maybe two steps:

Step 1. Assign a cruise pilot to ride along with anyone over 60. This will allow them to eat, sleep, rest or whatever they prefer. When they are ready, they can step forward to make the landing and show us all how it's done.

Step 2. Bump that arbitrary age limit to 70. After all they have earned that priviledge.

Then we can stop deluding ourselves that any legislative changes to FARs or fine print to CBAs are for anything other than to satisfy one special interest or another.
