You went about this the correct way, pointing out to her that it was illegel and then contacting a union rep was the a good move on your part. Now please understand that you aren't protected by the union and the union is very limited on what they can do for you. Situations like these the union should be able to help but please keep your emotions in check, I know a few people have blasted you here for standing up for your self as a new hire but you seem very confrontal and with an attitude like this you might not make it to the line! Take care of your self, do what is right, stay under the radar and most importantly choose your battles wisely.
Sorry if it comes across as an attitude, but I don't, really. I'm just sick of these regionals trying to convince pilots, especially newhires, of breaking regs and running over them.
