From there we got into a little discussion about hats, mostly him talking and me listening. At the time I gave a little rebuff to his comment of how it looks stupid of a guy holding his hat as he walks through the terminal, more for the sake of just trying to play devil's advocate. He rhetorically asked why not just forgo it and don't even bring it with you to work if you feel that strongly about it? At the time I thought, "This guy sure is company." But the more I've seen this practice the more I have to agree: it just looks dumb when a guy is holding his hat. Do I really give a $#!*?...not really, but it does come across as if the pilot who thinks he's making a statement is actually making a statement more about himself than anything else. That and the double breasted jacket flying wide open because it's too much trouble to button. Really? Whatever. If that's your method of showing discontent, well....
That is a really good observation.. Here's another for you. We are going to section 6 soon.. Guys want the hat gone. How would YOU react (not you Jesse) if you were management and you see guys behaving like this? Would you be more inclined to say to the negotiators "Well.. they aren't wearing them anyway, let's calll the whole thing off?" Or would you come down with the hammer? And before you guys get all high and mighty, those of you that have never done this before better start to realize that EVERYTHING.. and I mean everything has a cost at the bargaining table. If you do not think so, you are woefully naive, and are gonna be scared to death as this thing starts to get ugly...
