The commute and QOL is purely seniority based at most airlines especially at AWAC. But it is how you perceive it. If you are junior you may only get half the weekends off each month if any and commutable is defined by you and where you live. Reserve is like most anywhere else but AWAC has been hiring like a mofo in the last few months so there are finally plenty of FOs so they really aren't flying that much. I ran into a junior FO hired in June of 2011 who told me that he had to get an extension on his 100 hrs in 120 days.
