With that background I would be shocked if he thought he was going to get out of Contract 2012 with a small increase in pilot costs. I strongly suspect he knows that the major reason why the DAL-NWA merger went so smoothly is because of the cooperation of the pilot group. Further, he knows that same group of people expect significant pay/work rule/ benefit increases in their next contract.
