Not really defending our reserve system, but we have a 2:1 duty rig (and then 1:1 after 12 hours), so 8 hours of duty equals 4 hours of pay.
It's really no different than training pay... 8 hours in the sim or in class pays 4 hours. I assume XJT gets paid 1:1 for training time?
That being said, I'd love to see 4 hours of pay for 4 hours of ready reserve in the new contract, however as others brought up, the same amount of ready reserve hours will need to be covered. So, twice as many people will end up sitting ready reserve. On the ASA side of the house, they have several crews overlapping on ready reserve from about 0600-2400 daily. I'm not sure how XJT schedules theirs.
