Instant 767 experience is not necessarily a bad thing...but I get your point. It makes waiting for a class or interview that much tougher.

Please also consider that not one (I think) of our Captain candidates (including me) have 757/767 experience. We (Captains) have been happily motoring around the world on 4 engines on the 747 and the 744 for (at least) the last 10 years, some much longer than that.

So, for me to go out with one (or two on an augmented, long-range crew) previously experienced guy is a great advantage.

Also, please understand that several of the FOs were Check Airmen and/or Instructors on that fleet in their former lives (Omni, Astar, ABX, etc)...and I'm more than happy to let them lead me around the world to make the operation a safe one.

Thirdly, also consider that the FAA (POI) may have mandated this upon the Flight Ops Management folks that got this program started...

And who knows, by waiting for another time, you (or others) might get into a 744 class...that's not a bad thing, right?

Good luck.
