Airhoss, this is not pointed directly at you, but some of you guys really need to stop being emotional and be objective.
It's called whipsaw.
Jeff does not like United pilots, not that he likes Continental pilots much either, but he really doesn't like you guys. His buddy Tilton taught him that he really doesn't have much to fear about you as the courts and injunctions will keep your d!ck in the dirt.
CAL management is running the show. They showed "reasonableness" and "good faith" by allowing the whole hiring of United furloughed pilots first, but they are not going to beg guys to come work. It doesn't take a brain surgeon to know the plan has always been to grow the CAL side, it was the plan BEFORE the merger. Now they can do it and still look like the good guys.
The pilot groups do not push how management acts. Management has all the tools and the RLA on their side. Just simple tweaking and they know we will be at each other's throats.
The sad truth is a JCBA is the only way this stuff stops - then we grow as a whole. So the TPA ratio protections are a good thing. The base protections, they are good too. But we all know that 400's could be flying out of IAH and EWR and none of us could have stopped it.
So, to answer your question, of how it will go over if there is hiring off the street with United furloughs on the street - they don't care. All they have to do is tell the dumb reporters how the furloughed guys wouldn't come to work when given the opportunity, and how union politics is the root of all evil.
