I agree with tsquare. Pay banding (or some variation) may be the way to go in this new world of bad contracts, age 60..65..etc, KAL is going to fly the A380 into ATL as early as Jan (per yesterday's AJC), getting 737's to replace 757's, code sharing with everyone that has lots of big iron.

This list is stagnant, I have moved backwards every bid in the last 4 years. The time to save money and have it compound is as early as you can. This BS about, "one day you will be senior", worked in the Defined Benefit days, not in the days of mergers, contractions, code sharing and econoic uncertainty. It's time for (maybe, cant quite commit yet) one payrate for captains and one for F/O's. Out of a list of over 12,000, how may pilots are flying 777's and 747's? How many captain seats?

I am a pilot who was hired young (11 years ago) and will retire (health and company withstanding) in the top 20. We will need strong scope on both ends of the spectrum. From RJ's to the biggest equipment. I imagine the majority of pilots would make more $ in the long run with a change in the way our pay scale works. In sted of a few pilots at the top making the most money, we can bring up the majority even if we have to bring down the top pay a little.(all this after a hefty % restoration in the next contract)
