Yes they do. What they're willing to pay for an airline ticket proves they want the cheapest pilots, mechanics, maintenance, etc. Sad as that is.
It isn't the consumer's fault. People still drove when gas prices were near $5.00. Of course the consumer pays as little as they can. I buy the cheapest gas I can and I won't pay $2 more per gallon of milk for the same thing either at the grocery store. The AIRLINES need to quit undercutting each other by a buck here and there.
