1. realistic 1st yr pay
*** For future searches the best way to come up with this number is to multiply the hourly wage times the minimum guarantee and then times twelve. Some people then use their perdium to cover the taxes and it works most of the time. So you are looking at 18K, again your perdium could cover your taxes but you are also looking at at least 2,500 for health insurance for your family, don't forget crash pad and commuting expenses.
2. SF340 CA pay?
***THis will vary on what year you upgrade, but you can use the formula above and look up the pay tables on APC.
3. Medical insurance cost per employee
***I don't work there so I can't give you the number people with families are looking at but for experience I can tell you 200 is a good start.
4. are the billings trips really commutable? Same day in and out?
***I will assume that you have no airline experience by the questions you are asking, a commutable trip same day in and out pretty much doesn't exist! that would be called a turn and the odds of you just doing a turn is non existent. What people mean by commutable is that the trip on day 1 starts late and on the last day finishes early. But not all trips are built like this. Also commutable depends on where you live, where you are going, who service that city, what airplane it used, what the weather is like, how many other commute and are pilots. If you are a commuter expect to be gone 24 days a month when you are new, as you gains seniority things might improve and you could only be gone half the month.
5. what is most commutable base?
***Don't work there so I can't tell you, but commutable depends on you and the things I mentioned above, for example I live in DFW and MIA has over 10 flights a day but is a nightmare of a commute because there is no competition (only served by AA) and the loads are high with a lot of commuters and people going back and forth for training in Dallas. To if I was living in Fort Smith, AK I would have 3 flights a day but the loads are lighter and less commuter.
no union rep at interview. Status of contract?Expiry?
***APC has the contract as amendable in 2016, airline contracts don't expire, they become amendable. During this time things are business as usual, you continue to work under the same work rules provided by the contract until an agreement is reach on a new CBA.
Thanks guys in advance. I really wanted to get this info at interview but they were a bit vague. Wife and 2 kids need support, and I need to make an informed decision.
Thanks guys
