RE: New Short Call bidding system and NYC Co-Terminal INformation
Hello fellow pilots I talked to SD at alpa yesterday to answer a few of my questions regarding the new short call rules coming into effect may 1 and here is what he said.
It will be similar to the bucket system now 0,1,2 (short calls assigned)will be a bucket and 3,4,5 will be a short call bucket. Also there will be a bucket with days of avail. You will have 3 or more as one Days of avail bucket and 1 and 2 days of avail as another bucket. What sked will do the day before is post (for example) we need 1 short call guy from the days of avail bucket of 3 or greater for a PM short call and we need 2 guys from the days of avail bucket 1,2 for an AM short call. You will then be able to preference if you want a short call, or one that starts in a time frame from 7 to 9 am was the example he gave.
assigning short calls will be like trip assignment. If someone has a preference for an AM short call they will get it if they are in the same days of avail bucket and the same number of short calls used bucket the short call assignment is coming out of. If there is no one that wants it then it will go to the most junior guy.
Part 2 regarding NYC i was asking about naming a co-terminal for commuting in with the first 2 hours used to commute it. He said you do not have to set one co-terminal and stick with it the assumption was you can change it. If today the EWR flight looks the best you can designate that one as your 2 hour short call airport and next week u can designate LGA.
If you use your two hours to commute to EWR then they have to give you more time to get to lga if they want u there.
Hope all his helps
