Just a few thoughts. Oil producers are not trying to blow you up, fundamentalists don't fly around in GVs. Oil producers do contribute a huge amount to western economies in terms of investment. Long after the oil is gone, those investments will bring them an income.
Green projects are not going to stop terrorism. If you want all cars to run on electricity, you are going to need to ramp up nuclear and or coal plants to supply the demand.
The markets are going to pick the winners no matter how we feel.
Oh yes they do. They also fly around in private Boeing airliners. Where do you think "fundamentalists" get their money from? Yeah, they get it from the drug trade and other illicit activities but who do you think funds all those roadside bombs and RPGs? Where do you think that big money comes from?
Yup, we'll have to ramp up electricity production. That's good for US. That is US jobs instead of "other country's jobs." Heck, they can put a nuke in my back yard if they want if it means we don't buy stuff from terrorists anymore.
