Also, keep in mind that UCH actually has a beverage "committee" with over a dozen members that evaluated the new coffee without ever testing it in an actual airplane. You know, where we actually serve it to real, paying customers. Not from some high rise office in IAH or ORD... That, apparently, is how UCH intends to operate - from their air-conditioned offices away from the rif-raf that turns the wheels.

The previous coffee that CAL had on it's planes before the merger was in place of the previous coffee, Timothy's. At least Timothy's was somewhat palatable. When they asked employees to come up with a name for the coffee blend that replaced Timothy's, they chose "Coast-to-Coast Roast." Alas, to me it became known as Coast-to-Coast Joke or Choke depending on my mood. Starbuck's was destined to be one of the first things to go after the merger was announced.
