The previous coffee that CAL had on it's planes before the merger was in place of the previous coffee, Timothy's. At least Timothy's was somewhat palatable. When they asked employees to come up with a name for the coffee blend that replaced Timothy's, they chose "Coast-to-Coast Roast." Alas, to me it became known as Coast-to-Coast Joke or Choke depending on my mood. Starbuck's was destined to be one of the first things to go after the merger was announced.
