I look forward to your announcement, although it probably won't rock my travel agency world. Your posts seem awfully hostile Gman. I know plenty of people who like flying on JetBlue, you don't have to convince me of that. FYI though, travel agents don't make money booking air on any airline! We make our money booking tours, cruises, international travel, business and incentive travel, etc. That being said, Jetblue only recently announced plans to allow booking on their airline through GDS. If that is your announcement, then I already know that.
I will continue to support union based airlines though because I am "UnionSkyTravelAgentGirl!"
Ireland's Aer Lingus forms alliance with JetBlue
DUBLIN, Feb 6 (Reuters) - Ireland's Aer Lingus <AERL.I> said on Tuesday it planned to form a strategic alliance with U.S. airline JetBlue <JBLU.O>, forming what it said was the world's first tie-up between two international low-cost carriers.
"The partnership will significantly extend Aer Lingus' reach into North America," the Dublin-based airline said in a statement. "Customers will now be able to make just one booking which will allow them to travel from Ireland to the U.S. and onto a direct Jet Blue flight to 51 destinations."
Those destinations were across the United States, Mexico and the Caribbean, it added.
Hi Skygirl,
this is huge, not only is this a first, but Aer Lingus is leaving the oneworld alliance to hook up with JetBlue. More intl. carriers to follow...
