Scott Kirby was asked about consolidation and possible merger with AMR, etc. and what lessons he learned from the attempt to buy Delta. He answered that he learned that labor was more important than he thought. He needed labor allies to make the buyout work and just having the best financial outlook for the creditors was not enough.
Can't believe he said that, but he did.
Someone better get Sailingfun on the horn. He thinks these mergers go through with the flick of managements wrist....no employee involvement required. I beg to differ and so does our alcoholic CEO friend. He might be a drunk but he has learned from the school of hard knocks. Not as dumb or arrogant as he once was.
