So I take my iPad from my home, to work for my trips and to the hotels. They already know this anyway. Not like I am going to be taking this thing to the bar or some strip club and turn the thing on.
In addition, why would anyone be doing personal, non-work related activities on the company-issued iPad anyway? Doesn't make sense. Sure, do your work email on it (I guess UAL guys currently have e-mail via the company) but any personal email accounts I certainly wouldn't be accessing on it.
They don't know. I'm surprised when they have tried to call me to check in for a trip starting tomorrow, when I'm still in the air flying today's trip. They've also called me at layovers looking for me to show up at another airport on the other side of the country. "You didn't know I'm in SFO?" This company's right hand doesn't know what it's left hand is doing. I'm not afraid of them tracking me with my iPad. The black United helicopter over my house is a different matter.
