Spirit isn't a regional. It SHOULD be better than a regional, because all regionals are horrible. Spirit pilots should not be comparing themselves to pilots who work at entry-level jobs, which regionals are, but should be comparing themselves to other career destinations. In that comparison, Spirit has some good areas, and needs to raise their expectations in others.

It's not to demean regional pilots, but simply to state that the average Spirit pilot has 1000's of hours of jet PIC, experience commanding a crew, and is otherwise more qualified than the average regional pilot. Nobody at Spirit has their application in at a regional, and there's a reason for that. We need to hold ourselves to a higher standard than simply being 'better than a regional'.

Incidentally, gouge from the last interview (last week?) was that there were 14 guys there, and all the candidates were well-qualified. This came from a furloughed Captain from a cargo carrier. It's great to hear that we're hiring these furloughed guys (ATA, AStar, ABEX, USA3000, Midwest, United, etc.), who will make great additions to the Spirit pilot group as both aviators and professionals. As always, your qualifications are secondary to an internal recommendation. Good luck to all that are applying - we'll unfortunately take a pass on some great candidates.
I have no clue why you typed all this since it was only an example. I don't even recall a post with a topic like "Spirt is better than my regional" ... or something along those lines. I guess there was one. The one where someone said "good gig". Now that one I do remember.
