My class was a mix of military and regional guys. The regional guys had a significant amount of 121 experience, all with quite a bit of PIC and jet time.
If you can't get a LOR walked in, go to an AirInc fair (gotta support poor ol' Kit) and talk to World there - a number of people have gotten interviews that way.
