I completely agree with the goal of the new regulation. At the same time, theres a sliver of me that doesn't agree with being required to hold an ATP to sit right seat in a 1900; a non-transport category aircraft that is also certified for single pilot. Its going to be hard finding qualified FOs to sit right seat after this rule when the minimums will be the same industrywide. They have no problem finding Captains, but who the hell is going to sit in the right seat? Hopefully they take some of the money they are dishing into the company and raise starting pay to make it worthwhile for people to remain in the right seat. Im anxious to see how the full transition to the Saab will affect the entire company.
