Second hand info direct from an Alaska crew: When they leave Maui or Lihue with a full load of people and bags in the 900, they will often stop in Kona or HNL to pick up the gas they need to get over to the ocean.

They can't get off the rwys there with both load and gas. Particularly more prevalent in the summer with lighter winds.

They also said hand flying it is like walking while carrying a long heavy lumber board. First the nose dips and slowly it stops and begins to correct. Then it the tail drops and the nose rises, you correct, repeat.

They also said the vspeeds are blazing fast compared to the 7 and 8.

To bad Boeing got rid of all the jigs and tooling for the 757. That with todays engines and composite tech would be ideal,
