Funny, I know plenty of "minority" Ca's. In casual conversation when you ask them "so, you got your stuff out everywhere?" Or "where have you applied to?" FedEx is rarely mentioned.
Do jet:
There are many great guys at FEDEX and it's a great company to work for. But there record on minority hiring is well below that of other major carriers. And in tooting my own horn, I went to the majors with over 3,000 hours heavy turbine PIC. And for the last ten years I've listened to more than a few people make assumptions about my qualifications, always before the receiving checklist. Captain mark is a Captain at the best paying carrier in the world, there are fewer minorities at FEDEX to challenge his curiosity and he still needs to flamebait this forum with the lie that somehow if you are a white male pilot, your outlook is bleak. Just sick of that self-righteous-self-pity. Leave that stuff on your easy-boy so it will be available to watch Rush Limbaugh and get over the fact that you WILL have to share the cockpit with people who don't look like you. Personally, it's not my problem, never applied to FEDEX and have been hired EVERYWHERE I ever applied. You can worry yourself sick wondering whether that is because I'm black or because I've applied myself, kept a good attitude and far exceeded the minimum requisite qualifications for employment. Me I'll be out enjoying my job flying with, more than likely, a pretty cool white-dude who enjoys flying with me. Good Luck.
