I didn't think so either however since being laid off I have found a line of work that is much more satisfying than flying but less fun. I am sure anyone here could do the same.
My theory is that people who become pilots have a bit if Peter Pan Syndrome. They don't want to grow up and choose what to them seems like a job that avoids most of the expectations and requirements of being an adult. In time most pilots realise that they have the capacity to grow up after all but are stuck in a job that keeps them in a nomadic college room mate type lifestyle and find it difficult to get out.
