So here's a helpful hint: rumors at an airline are dime-a-dozen, and just because they come from a "manager" means jack. Even less so if you are hearing from a manager at one airline what is supposedly happening at another. Pilot rumors are even worse.

But there is a nugget of truth in every rumor and just like every other merger in history aircraft will be swapped around the system to optimize the network. CAL is now opening small 737 pilot bases in DEN and ORD while UAL is opening a small A320 base in IAH.
