Fair enough. I too would rather have had it be a United front. I'm speculating, but reading between the lines, I don't think JP was ready to pull the trigger for a variety of reasons. I'm not sure when, if ever, he would have been. IF that was the case (again, just guessing) I'm thinking JH felt it necessary to make the first move. I know it put the CAL Pilots in an awkward spot, and I am definitely thankful for the response. Hopefully this move is in EVERYONES best interest.

My impression of the time leading up to this was that there was a growing rift of satisfaction with how things were progressing. JP and the Negotiating committee were putting out communique saying talks were progressing well. JH was seeing it differently, with management continuing to fail to deliver on even the simplest of promises. My personal opinion was that there were no results, just talk, and it was time to make management put their money where their mouths were blabbing. I would much preferred if JP had agreed with that up front, but I was unwilling to wait any longer for him to come to that conclusion.

In any event, hopefully we can all move forward together. There have been negotiating tactics on both sides that were less than ideal. With the giant step forward last week, those all seem irrelevant now as my attention if firmly focused forward.
