Twin Wasp is right, PPRuNe would be a better choice, but, I have spent a lot of time in Europe (among other continents) so I can offer some advice.

1) 40 years old is not too old to do modular training.

2) If you don't have any money then that's a non-starter for this career. Modular training is gonna set you back £30,000+ and the way the industry in Europe is going then you'll likely have to buy you own type rating from Ryanair (or similar). Total bill £45,000 to £55,000.

3) Keep an eye on the European economy because it is teetering on a cliff edge.

4) Get yourself a trial lesson at your local flying club to see if you even enjoy it.
