If they change that to ALV + 15 then they can assign a reserve a 15 hour trip if he is one minute short of the ALV. That is a big change. It will reduce staffing significantly.
I wasn't sure what it meant, thanks for clearing that up, and I agree, it WILL reduce staffing, as will increasing the ALV's by 5 hours for regular line holders.
OK, It's not in the Note Pad, but just for fun, let's say the company then offers an "Early Out" package for say, 500 pilots.
Well, just the 5 hour increase in ALV will more than cover that.
If 11,000 pilots each fly 5 more hours, that's an additional 55,000 hours being flown by the same 11,000 pilots. Divide that 55,000 additonal hours by today's ALV of 82, you've just lost 670 pilot jobs.
500 early outs, but 670 less pilots needed. A win for the Company, no doubt.
Split 50/50, it's 335 less in each seat. If the company did allow 500 early outs, and they if were all Capts., they only need to replace 165 of the 500 who left.
Hey, look on the bright side, they haven't offered the early out yet, and if they do, maybe they can make that 165 up with...
More RJ Capts!
