You and me both. Guys like you end up being the good Captains to fly with. On the rare occasion I get paired up with a guy who wants me to ask for totally ridiculous stuff on the radio, I always start off the ATC call with, "The Captain would like....". If he takes exception to that, my backup plan is, "You're gonna have to ask for that one yourself.".
I don't get paid enough to put up with abuse or sound like a douche on the radio.
