Sadly, yes. The major byproduct of looser scope at the mainline carriers is their contraction, likely at or close to the rate of retirements.
The majority of current regional pilots will retire as future domestic SNJ (Small Narrow-body Jet) captains making mediocre bucks and weak 401(k)'s they'll have to fund heavily themselves.
