I want to +1 HMP's sentiments. Many people are surprised when I tell them that the main reason I do this job is for the pay, schedule, and benefits. The key word is job. Sure, this line of work is much better than a lot of other things I could be doing, but at the end of the day it is a job. A very good job but a job nonetheless.
I appreciate all of your honest responses. I have been told horror stories about aviation. I know I might be eating ramen and have a horrible schedule for the foreseeable future, but I just don't want to do anything else as much. I know that's probably a horrible decision, but I kind of feel like I'll always regret not trying it out at least. =/
