I think this thread could have been ended on page 1....

The answer is... yes its possible to get hired to mainline from the rightseat at a regional... but your chances are very very slim, and for those that did it has nothing to do with how much flight time you have.

This shortage that all flight schools are trying to shove down young aspiring pilots throats is not going to be what they're telling you. Yes there are big numbers retiring, but the majors are merging and then will be shrinking.

There will not be a shortage at the major level... keep in mind you are not just going up against US pilots for these jobs... The US and the US airlines make it very easy to come work here.
