PG,
You bring up an interesting point.
Last year per pilot, DAL Pilots produced move revenue than Southwest Pilots. I attend a lot of LEC meetings and was at the local PUB event, I read all the union correspondence and have never heard any of our union guys mention this.
From Yahoo Finance:
DAL 2011 35.8 B revenue with approximately 12,000 Pilots.
SAW 2011 16.5 B revenue with approximately 6,100 Pilots.
I am not saying that there is no merit to your statement, just that it is not as clear cut as you (and often DALPA personnel) make it seem. Obviously their overall costs are a lot lower, due to their efficiencies - plus for SWA. While our broader network offering many more options brings in more dollars - bonus DAL.
Granted, you can play with these numbers all day long to produce different kinds of results. I assume our NC guys are doing this and probably have some pretty good metrics - it does however seem we often get a negative slant on things - why not a balanced view?
