What are the chances of JetBlue being involved somehow? There has been a lot coming from JetBlue's management team that to me, suggests there is something going on. I think JetBlue is getting set up for a acquisition, or possibly a big-time code share (the "new" regional airline of the future). My initial belief was that B6 was going to have a full-blown code share with American, but US Air's bid may (or may not) change that. Now, I wonder if Delta can use JetBlue to basically cripple any chance of American and/or US Air gaining any kind of traction in any major market, plus gain an even stronger hold on NY, plus the Boston and the Carribean markets. B6's stock is dirt cheap, which leads me to believe that could have sped up negotiations, in addition to get a first mover advantage over American.
