This is the KEY...............
All you Purple applicants need to understand that there is a
BIG Difference at FedEx between a Recommendation and a Sponsor. They are not necessarily the same thing.
If you know someone at FedEx who has written a recommendation for you and you think that is being a sponsor, you would be in error.
A Pilot who simply writes a quick letter of Rec for you is merely that. A pilot who wrote a letter.
A sponsor (a good sponsor anyway) is a Pilot who will walk into the ACP or SCP's office (more than once) and say "Can I check on my guy's app?' The ACP will pull up the applicant's record and tell you where he/she stands........Good or Bad pile and if in the Good pile how high in the stack. He might offer tidbits of info as to what else is needed, i.e. more PIC time or more total time or something as easy as he/she has no phone # or email on file. One of my old applicants moved during the process and FedEx called his old phone # twice for an interview and got the "This number is no longer working or has been disconnected " recording. I called my guy and he thought he had updated it but it wasn't in his file. He took care of it and finally got the interview and got hired, but it cost him 9 months and 100 numbers. He would have never found out and probably would not have been hired if I had not been proactive. Needless to say, My Scotch supply is never low.
If your sponsor is better connected with the ACP's and SCP or Standards folks he might have more pull, all the better for you. Bottom line your sponsor must be proactive on your behalf.
So for you FedEx wannabees, you need to ask your friends what they have done for you. Did they just write you a letter or have they and do they continually check on you and go to bat for you with their MGT contacts?
This makes the difference in getting a call next week for the interview or pacing like an expectting dad in the Maternity ward. Good luck
