The LEC reps didn't misread or mishear. You're lying. The TA is cost neutral to the company. We all have waited a decade for DALPA to show us what they can do with a Section 6. DALPA fell into incredible luck to enter Section 6 with a massively profitable company. What did DALPA bring us? A cost neutral TA.
Carl - dealing out the truth
Carl,
What is our leverage?
I told everyone it would be a cost neutral contract from the Company's perspective. Nothing else could be justified at this early position. Money would be brought from facilitating the business plan and given to us. That's the only play we've got without a wildcat strike (unrealistic) or a real strike (who knows when, or if).
... and those economic forces remain the same regardless of who our bargaining agent is.
It would be a lot easier to be a coward and go with the flow on this board, but it would not be honest. I've always tried to be objective so ... I think our MEC and NC did a fantastic job executing the play to gain field position ... balancing and allocating what they traded and got.
The result is a mediocre ending to a Hollywood drama, but a damn good effort for the real world in Atlanta.
I am still stress testing and running scenarios through the language (like the Republic situation) and will remain inquisitive, but it would be unfair to characterize this
pay neutral to the pilots.
We clearly gain from money liberated from other parts of the business.
My modelling strongly suggested the play would be a outsourced jet in the 80 to 100 seat range. Sure enough that is what management proposed. I feared ALPA would do that trade. I'm relieved and impressed they held our ground.
---- ALERT -- WILD SPECULATION FOLLOWS -----
The Next Gen 900 has mainline economics. If we are going to make a move to capture 2015 might be the time we talk management into extracting us from parasitic stakeholders who are not "Delta." We should have the balance sheet to do that. Just saying that would be my next move in this Chess Game.
