They cannot get themselves their own contract(6+years) so they try to incorporate other carriers that do have better things to offer because their style of negotiating is, lets say pretty futile. I have NEVER seen a union bypass a pay raise for their FO's where the company said outright that this will have no bearing on the current negotiations for a fair and equitable contract. Of course the IBT will spin it as the company is trying to undercut our negotiations. REALLY!?
If you Colgan pilots can go somewhere else please do yourself the justice. The IBT has got to be the most inept and spinning machine union that I have ever been(forced) a part of.
Who is "they"? The Teamsters aren't buying Colgan. In fact, no one is buying Colgan. The planes are being turned back to the leasor and then being leased to RAH for the United flying. It seems that Menke didn't want to sell a second airline to Bedford. Colgan as an airline and certificate is remaining a property of Pinnacle. Unless there is a purchase of the airline, and thus the pilots, there can't be an integration.
And yes, what is being done to the Colgan guys is bee ess. But, this is a backdoor deal amongst shady CEOs that had nothing to do with the IBT.
